BCA's Net Profit Grew by 18% in the First Half of 2021

PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) reported a net profit of Rp 14.5 trillion in the first half of 2021. This figure represents an 18.1% increase compared to the same period the previous year.

This increase was influenced by a lower net profit comparison base in the first half of 2020. During January-June 2020, BCA only recorded a net profit of Rp 12.2 trillion, down 5.42% compared to the same period in 2019.

The net profit obtained in the first half of 2020 also marked the first decline in the last five years. Previously, the company had consistently recorded profit increases, from Rp 10.5 trillion in 2017 to Rp 11.4 trillion in 2018 and Rp 12.9 trillion in 2019.

BCA's total operating revenue reached Rp 38.5 trillion in the first half of 2021, increasing by approximately 2.4% year-on-year. This increase was driven, in part, by a 3.8% rise in net interest income from Rp 27.26 trillion to Rp 28.3 trillion.

Fee and commission income also increased by 7.5% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the non-performing loan (NPL) ratio remained at 2.4%, supported by restructuring relaxation policies.
