There were 3,875 Dengue Fever cases in Jakarta, DKI, as of April 2024: A Monthly Trend Analysis

The Jakarta Provincial Health Office (Dinkes DKI Jakarta) recorded 3,875 cases of dengue fever (DBD) in the region between January and April 2024. Six deaths resulted from these cases.

“As of April 16, 2024, six deaths have been recorded,” said Ani Ruspitawati, Head of Dinkes DKI Jakarta, in a statement reported by *CNN Indonesia* on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

Ani detailed that these DBD-related deaths were spread across the sub-districts of Duren Sawit, Kebayoran Lama, Tanah Abang, Tebet, and Johar Baru.

The trend shows an increase in DBD cases in DKI Jakarta since the beginning of the year.

There were 310 DBD cases in January 2024. This increased to 767 cases in February 2024 and reached its peak in March 2024 with 2,163 cases.

By Tuesday, April 16, 2024, the number of dengue fever cases in DKI Jakarta decreased to 635 cases. However, a further increase is anticipated.

Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, Heru Budi, stated that his administration has conducted fogging to eliminate the mosquitoes that carry the DBD disease.

“We also urge the public to carry out spraying, maintain household cleanliness, and avoid hanging used clothes for too long,” said Heru in a statement on Monday, March 25, 2024.

Furthermore, the public is also asked to implement the 3M strategy: menguras (emptying) water containers, menutup (closing) containers, and mengubur (burying) potential breeding grounds to prevent mosquito breeding.
