According to data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), as of December 2023, the total value of credit/financing disbursed by general banks nationwide reached Rp7.09 quadrillion.
Approximately 73% of this consisted of working capital and investment credit for business sectors, while 27% was consumer credit for non-business sectors.
In the category of credit for business sectors, the highest non-performing loan/non-performing financing (NPL/NPF) ratio was in the fisheries sector.
In December 2023, the total value of general bank credit channeled to the fisheries sector reached approximately Rp20.8 trillion, with problematic credit valued at approximately Rp1.1 trillion.
Thus, the national NPL/NPF ratio for the fisheries sector as of December 2023 reached approximately 5.3%.
Other business sectors with relatively high non-performing loan ratios include construction; wholesale and retail trade; and the manufacturing industry, each with an NPL/NPF ratio above 3%.
