PT Bank Mandiri Persero Tbk is a state-owned bank that is the most generous in distributing dividends to its shareholders. The Bank Mandiri General Meeting of Shareholders decided to distribute 45 percent of its net profit as dividends. This figure is the highest compared to the dividend payout ratio of other state-owned banks (BUMN).
As is known, this bank, with the trading code BMRI, experienced a 32 percent drop in net profit in 2016, falling to Rp 13.8 trillion from Rp 20.33 trillion the previous year, yet its payout ratio was the highest. The increase in non-performing loans, impacting the rise in loss provisions, caused Bank Mandiri's profit to plummet sharply in 2016.
For the 2016 fiscal year, this bank, with assets of Rp 1,038 trillion, plans to distribute dividends totaling Rp 6.21 trillion, a 1.83 percent increase from the previous year. Meanwhile, Bank BRI distributed dividends of Rp 10.47 trillion, Bank BNI Rp 3.97 trillion, and Bank BTN Rp 523.79 billion. Total dividends from state-owned banks in 2016 reached Rp 21.17 trillion, a 29.4 percent increase from Rp 16.36 trillion the previous year.
