Credit Card Transaction Value Increased by Only 0.5% in June 2021

Credit card transactions totaled Rp 19.8 trillion in June 2021. This figure represents a slight 0.5% increase compared to the previous month's Rp 19.7 trillion. The increase occurred in the cash category, while the spending category remained relatively stagnant.

The cash category had transactions worth Rp 575.6 billion, a 16% increase from Rp 496.2 billion in May 2021. Meanwhile, the spending category remained at approximately the same level as the previous month, at Rp 19.2 trillion.

Despite the increase in value, the volume of credit card transactions decreased. The number dropped by approximately 1% from 23.5 million transactions in May 2021 to 23.2 million transactions last month.

Credit card transactions decreased significantly during the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic due to restrictions on public activities. Values began to improve at the end of 2020, but have not yet stabilized back to pre-pandemic levels.

Conversely, electronic money is increasingly used by the public. Its transaction value reached Rp 24.2 trillion in June 2021.
