Public deposits in banks decreased in February 2018 compared to December 2017. Based on data from the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) [link to data source], public deposits decreased by Rp 28.64 trillion or 0.53% to Rp 5,334.45 trillion from Rp 5,363.1 trillion at the end of last year.
The group of public deposits below Rp 5 billion in February of this year experienced a decrease compared to the end of last year. The largest decrease was recorded in deposits below Rp 100 million, namely Rp 15.58 trillion or 2.02%, reaching Rp 754.68 trillion from the previous amount. Meanwhile, the lowest decrease was in the Rp 200-500 million group, which was only Rp 3.11 trillion or 0.66%, reaching Rp 464.98 trillion from the previous amount.
Meanwhile, public deposits above Rp 5 billion showed an increase. In February 2018, deposits in this high-value category increased by Rp 16.5 trillion or 0.66% to Rp 2,526 trillion from Rp 2,509.5 trillion at the end of 2017.
