Earthquake Today, April 11, 2023, Strikes North Bengkulu

A recent earthquake measuring 4.9 magnitude struck North Bengkulu on April 11, 2023. According to a release from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake's epicenter was located in the sea approximately 54 kilometers southwest of North Bengkulu.

"Earthquake felt, Magnitude: 4.9 on April 11, 2023, 19:30:14," BMKG wrote in its release. The earthquake occurred at coordinates 3.77°S (South Latitude) and 101.84°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale in several areas, including Bengkulu and Argamakmur, with intensities of III and III respectively. An MMI scale of III means the earthquake was felt by some people but caused no damage or injuries. Light hanging objects swayed and window panes vibrated.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded eight significant earthquakes felt by the public across Indonesia in the past week, varying in magnitude and depth.
