Earthquake Today, October 5, 2023, Shakes Supiori

A recent earthquake measuring 4.1 magnitude struck Supiori on October 5, 2023. According to a release from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake's epicenter was located several kilometers southeast of Supiori.

"Earthquake felt, Magnitude: 4.1 on October 5, 2023, 20:07:03," BMKG wrote in its release. The earthquake occurred at coordinates 0.80°S (South Latitude) and 135.85°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale in several areas, including Supiori Regency, with an intensity of II-III. An MMI scale of II means the earthquake was not felt by most people or was felt only by a few, but was recorded by instruments.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded 13 significant earthquakes felt by the public across Indonesia in the last week, with varying magnitudes and depths.
