BMKG: Recent Earthquake Northeast of Ratahan Magnitude 4.6, No Tsunami Potential

A recent earthquake measuring 4.6 magnitude struck Ratahan on March 14, 2023. According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake's epicenter was located in the sea approximately 73 kilometers southeast of Ratahan.

"Earthquake felt, Magnitude: 4.6 on March 14, 2023, 03:27:52," BMKG wrote in its release. The earthquake occurred at coordinates 0.65°N (North Latitude) and 125.32°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale in several areas, including Tondano and Manado, with intensities of II-III and II-III respectively. An MMI scale of III means the earthquake was felt by several people but did not cause damage or accidents. Light hanging objects swayed, and window panes vibrated.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded five significant earthquakes felt by the public across Indonesia in the last week, varying in magnitude and depth.
