Recent 4.6 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Ratahan Region

A 4.6 magnitude (M) earthquake struck Ratahan. The epicenter was at sea. "The earthquake's epicenter was located 73 km southeast of Ratahan at sea, and this earthquake is felt and needs to be relayed to the public," wrote BMKG (Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency) on its official website, March 14, 2023.

The earthquake occurred at 03:27:52. It had a depth of 33 kilometers and posed no tsunami potential. The earthquake's coordinates were 0.65° N (North Latitude) and 125.32° E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the MMI scale in the Tondano and Manado areas with intensities of II-III and II-III respectively. An MMI scale of III means the earthquake was felt by several people but caused no damage or accidents. Light hanging objects swayed, and window panes vibrated.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded five significant earthquakes felt by the public in Indonesia over the past week, varying in magnitude and depth.
