Earthquake Today, May 28, 2024, Shakes Sukabumi City

A recent earthquake measuring 4.1 magnitude struck Sukabumi City on May 28, 2024. According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake's epicenter was located in the sea approximately 83 kilometers southwest of Sukabumi City.

"Earthquake felt, Magnitude: 4.1 on May 28, 2024 at 09:20:22," BMKG wrote in its release. The earthquake occurred at coordinates 7.67°S (South Latitude) and 106.89°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale in several areas, including Cipamingkis, Bungbulang, and Cikelet, with intensities of III, II-III, and II-III respectively. An MMI scale of III means the earthquake was felt by several people but did not cause damage or accidents. Light hanging objects swayed, and window panes vibrated.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded eight significant earthquakes felt by the public across Indonesia in the past week, varying in magnitude and depth.
