Earthquake Today, May 10, 2024, Shakes North Bengkulu

A magnitude (M) 4.7 earthquake struck North Bengkulu. The epicenter was located at sea. "The earthquake's epicenter was 63 km southwest of North Bengkulu, and this earthquake was felt and should be relayed to the public," wrote BMKG (Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency) on its official website, May 10, 2024.

The earthquake occurred at 15:20:48. It was located at a depth of 24.0 kilometers and did not have the potential to cause a tsunami. The earthquake's coordinates were 3.48°S (South Latitude) and 101.63°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale in North Bengkulu, Seluma, Bengkulu City, Mukomuko, Bengkulu, Rejang, and Kepahiang at intensities of III, II-III, II-III, II-III, II-III, II-III, and II, respectively. An MMI scale of III means the earthquake was felt by several people but did not cause damage or accidents. Light hanging objects swayed, and window panes vibrated.
