Earthquake Information April 11, 2023 in Sukabumi Regency, 4.4 Magnitude, No Tsunami Potential

A 4.4 magnitude (M) earthquake struck Sukabumi Regency. The epicenter was at sea. "The earthquake's epicenter was 90 km southeast of Sukabumi Regency at sea, and this earthquake is felt and should be relayed to the public," wrote BMKG (Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency) on its official website, April 11, 2023.

The earthquake occurred at 01:24:14. It was located at a depth of 31 kilometers and did not have the potential to cause a tsunami. The earthquake's coordinates were 7.75°S (South Latitude) and 106.85°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the MMI scale in the areas of Cianjur, Pajampangan, Cipamingkis, Cidora, Pameungpeuk, Bandung Regency, Garut Regency, Sukabumi Regency, Bogor Regency, Tasikmalaya Barat, and Pangalengan with intensities of III, III, III, III, III, II-III, II-III, II-III, II-III, II, II, and II respectively. An MMI scale of III means the earthquake was felt by several people but did not cause damage or accidents. Light hanging objects swayed, and window panes vibrated.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded eight significant earthquakes felt by the public in Indonesia over the past week, with varying magnitudes and depths.
