Recent 4.6 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Pasangkayu Region

A recent earthquake measuring 4.6 magnitude struck Pasangkayu on May 25, 2023. According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) release, the earthquake's epicenter was located on land, approximately 26 kilometers southwest of Pasangkayu.

"Earthquake felt, Magnitude: 4.6 on May 25, 2023, 04:32:07 AM," BMKG wrote in its release. The earthquake occurred at coordinates 1.41°S (South Latitude) and 119.35°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale in several areas, including districts with an intensity of II-III. One of the MMI scales felt was II, meaning the earthquake was not felt or was felt only by a few people but was recorded by instruments.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded nine significant earthquakes felt by the public across Indonesia in the last week, varying in magnitude and depth.
