10 Carbon Unit Trading Projects on IDX Carbon in July 2026

The Indonesia Carbon Exchange (IDX Carbon) is a platform for buying and selling carbon units managed by the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) and supervised by the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

Carbon units are the result of emission reduction and/or absorption certified through domestic certification schemes, international certification, or Greenhouse Gas Emission Quotas (GRK) stated in units of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e).

Referring to the Financial Services Authority Regulation (POJK) No. 10 of 2026, there are several types of carbon units traded on IDX Carbon, namely:

1. GRK Emission Quotas: the amount of emissions that can be released into the atmosphere by regulated installations.
2. Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Certificates (SPE GRK): Evidence of emission reduction by businesses and/or activities that have undergone measurement, reporting, and verification, and are recorded in the SRUK Carbon Unit Registry System in the form of a registration number and/or code.
3. Non-SPE GRK: Carbon units from abroad that are not registered in SRUK, but have been registered, validated, and verified by an institution that has obtained accreditation from an international registration system organizer and/or have been listed on a foreign carbon exchange; and meet other requirements set by OJK.

As of July 2026, there are 10 carbon unit trading projects listed on IDX Carbon, with the following details:

1. PJB Muara Karang

• Project description: Construction of a Natural Gas-fired Power Plant (PLTGU) Block 3
• Recorded carbon unit volume: 923,773 ton CO2e (2023)
• Project owner: PT PLN Nusantara Power

2. PLTGU Priok

• Project description: Operation of a New Natural Gas-fired Power Plant (PLTGU) Priok Block 4
• Recorded carbon unit volume: 400,000 ton CO2e (2022)
• Project owner: PT PLN Indonesia Power

3. The Lahendong Project

• Project description: Lahendong Unit 5 and 6
• Recorded carbon unit volume: 234,413 tonnes of CO2e (2022)
• Project owner: PT Pertamina Power Indonesia

4. Grati CHP Plant

• Project description: Conversion from a Single Cycle Power Plant to a Combined Cycle (Add On) CHP Plant Grati Block 2
• Recorded carbon unit volume: 150,000 tonnes of CO2e (2022)
• Project owner: PT PLN Indonesia Power

5. Sumbagut Gas Power Plant

• Project description: Operation of a New Natural Gas-fired Power Plant, Sumbagut Gas Power Plant 2 Peaker 250 MW
• Recorded carbon unit volume: 103,292 tonnes of CO2e (2023)
• Project owner: PT PLN Nusantara Power

6. Sukadamai Biogas Power Plant

• Project description: Sukadamai Biogas Power Plant 2.4 MW from Biogas Recovery in POME Waste Treatment
• Recorded carbon unit volume: 47,799 tonnes of CO2e (2023)

7. Muara Tawar UP

• Project description: Conversion from a Single Cycle Power Plant to a Combined Cycle Block 2 PLN NP
• Recorded carbon unit volume: 34,000 tonnes of CO2e (2025)

8. POME Waste Utilization of PTPN IV

• Project description: Utilization of Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) Waste for Biogas Co-Firing

9. Gunung Wugul Hydro Power Plant

• Project description: Operation of a Mini Hydro Power Plant

10. Sei Mangkei Biogas Power Plant

• Project description: Sei Mangkei Biogas Power Plant with a capacity of 2.4 MW from biogas recovery in POME waste treatment
