Indonesia to Send Wild Animals to Japan and Norway by Early 2024

A report from Indonesia's Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) reveals that the accumulated weight of wild animals exported by Indonesia from January to April 2024 totaled 264 kilograms (kg).

This volume is down 30.96% year-on-year (yoy) from 382 kg in the same period of the previous year. Export value in January-April 2024 reached US$55,990, a decrease of 2.9% (yoy) from US$57,670 in the previous year.

Japan was the main destination for Indonesian wildlife exports, with a weight of 98 kg in early 2024. This volume decreased by 26.46% (yoy) from 133 kg in the 2023 period.

Despite the decrease in weight, the value increased. The export value to Japan from January to April 2024 was US$4,920, a surge of 126.69% (yoy) from US$2,170 previously.

The next largest destinations were India and Lebanon, each with 62 kg in early 2024. However, the values differed: US$18,950 from India and US$15,580 from Lebanon.

Following these were Uzbekistan with 20 kg of wildlife imports, the Czech Republic with 10 kg, Iraq with 7 kg, Norway with 4 kg, and the United States with 1 kg.
