Protecting the Environment: The Primary Approach of Young People to Tackle Climate Change

Climate change has become a prominent issue for young people. According to a KedaiKOPI survey, the majority, or 81.1%, of young people consider climate change an urgent issue.

71.3% of young people believe that environmental conditions will worsen in the future. Only 22.9% believe environmental conditions will remain the same, and 5.8% believe they will improve.

To address this problem, 17.1% of respondents believe that young people need to protect the environment. 14.3% of respondents believe that young people should not litter.

Furthermore, 13.1% of respondents believe it is important to increase personal awareness regarding climate change. 10.6% of respondents stated that climate change can be addressed by conserving energy/electricity and water.

10.1% of respondents believe that addressing climate change involves reducing the use of private vehicles. 7.4% of respondents cited reforestation as a solution.

Other respondents suggested addressing climate change by bringing one's own lunch (6.4%), carrying eco-friendly items (4.7%), reducing plastic use (4.4%), maintaining cleanliness (3.4%), and sorting waste (3.2%).

KedaiKOPI surveyed 1,200 respondents aged 14-40 years between October 14-21, 2021. The survey was conducted via telephone interviews with a response rate of 13.97%.
