Earthquake Information May 25, 2023, Ternate 4.6 Magnitude, No Tsunami Potential

A 4.6 magnitude (M) earthquake struck Ternate. The epicenter was at sea. "The earthquake's epicenter was located 113 km northwest of Ternate at sea, and this earthquake is felt and needs to be relayed to the public," wrote BMKG (Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency) on its official website, May 25, 2023.

The earthquake occurred at 00:08:30. It was located at a depth of 10.0 kilometers and did not have the potential to cause a tsunami. Meanwhile, the earthquake's coordinates were 1.23° N (North Latitude) and 126.45° E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the MMI scale at level III in two areas. MMI scale III means the earthquake was felt by several people but did not cause damage or accidents. Light hanging objects swayed and glass windows vibrated.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded nine significant earthquakes felt by the public in Indonesia over the past week, varying in magnitude and depth.
