As of 2021, the United States operated the largest number of nuclear reactors in the world.

Nuclear power is one of the alternative energies to overcome the scarcity of fossil fuels. The energy produced from nuclear power is used as a reliable power plant to supply a country's electricity needs.

According to the *The World Nuclear Industry 2021* report, the United States has the highest number of nuclear reactors in the world, namely 93 reactors until 2021. France follows in second place with 56 nuclear reactors.

Next, the number of nuclear reactors in China ranks third with 52 reactors. Then, Russia and South Korea are next with 38 and 23 reactors respectively.

The *The World Nuclear Industry 2021* report also notes that globally, nuclear power plants experienced a 3.9% decrease in 2020, except for China which had a 4.4% increase, with two new nuclear reactors being operated.

Currently, 33 countries operate nuclear reactors, but only 14 countries are registered as still actively developing nuclear technology. Included in this list are Belarus and the United Arab Emirates, which are newcomers to nuclear energy in 2020.
