Based on Kpler data compiled by Reuters, Indonesia exported 413 million metric tons of thermal coal from January to October 2023.

The volume increased by 11.5% year-on-year (yoy) from 371.08 million metric tons in the same period the previous year.

Hendra Sinadia, Executive Director of the Indonesian Coal Mining Association (APBI), explained that this increase in export volume is due to several factors.

Meanwhile, other thermal coal exporting countries such as South Africa, Colombia, the United States, and Canada only achieved a market share of less than 6%.
