President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) claims that a total of Rp56.2 trillion in investment has flowed into the new capital city (IKN) as of August 12, 2024.

“As of today, I need to inform you that, outside of the state budget, investments totaling Rp56.2 trillion have already come in,” Jokowi said in his opening remarks before a plenary cabinet meeting in IKN, which was broadcast online on Monday (August 12, 2024).

Jokowi explained that 55 investors have already performed groundbreaking ceremonies.

“I believe this will drive economic growth in East Kalimantan Province, specifically Balikpapan, and even more specifically North Penajam Paser Regency,” Jokowi said.

He is optimistic that investment and the relocation of the capital to Nusantara will accelerate economic growth, which he says has been concentrated in Java for a long time.
