Complete List of 2023 Provincial Minimum Wages (UMP) in Sumatra: Which Province Has the Highest?

Indonesian provincial governments announced the 2023 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) on Monday, November 28th. Ten provinces on the island of Sumatra have also announced their UMP figures, referencing Minister of Manpower Regulation Number 18 of 2022.

Official announcements show varying UMP values across provinces, with increases ranging from 5% to 9%. These increases fall within the Permenaker's stipulated maximum increase of 10%.

In Sumatra, Bangka Belitung (Babel) has the highest UMP. The province set its 2023 UMP at Rp3,498,479, a 7.15% increase (Rp233,595) from the 2022 UMP of Rp3,264,884.

Bengkulu has the lowest UMP in Sumatra. Its 2023 UMP increased by 8.1% to Rp2,418,280 compared to Rp2,238,094 in 2022.

West Sumatra's UMP increase is currently the highest in both Indonesia and Sumatra, nearing the Minister of Manpower Ida's maximum 10% increase limit. The 2023 West Sumatra UMP increased by 9.15% to Rp2,742,476 from Rp2,512,539 in 2022.

* North Sumatra: Increased by 7.45% from Rp2,522,609 in 2022 to Rp2,710,493 in 2023.
* West Sumatra: Increased by 9.15% from Rp2,512,539 in 2022 to Rp2,742,476 in 2023.
* South Sumatra: Increased by 8.26% from Rp3,144,446 in 2022 to Rp3,404,177 in 2023.
* Jambi: Increased by 9.04% from Rp2,698,940 in 2022 to Rp2,943,000 in 2023.
* Riau: Increased by 8.61% from Rp2,938,564 in 2022 to Rp3,191,662 in 2023.
* Riau Islands: Increased by 7.51% from Rp3,050,172 in 2022 to Rp3,279,194 in 2023.
* Bengkulu: Increased by 8.1% from Rp2,238,094 in 2022 to Rp2,418,280 in 2023.
