Throughout 2023, the majority of IMWs were placed in Taiwan, totaling 83,216 individuals. This number represents 30.26% of the total Indonesian migrant worker population last year.

The next largest destination country for IMWs was Malaysia, which accommodated 72,260 IMWs. This was followed by Hong Kong with 65,916 individuals and South Korea with 12,580 individuals.

The majority, or 66,362, of IMWs worked as domestic helpers last year. This was followed by IMWs working as caregivers (54,665 individuals) and plantation workers (25,163 individuals).
