2023 Data: Unemployment in Sukabumi Regency Reaches 7.32%

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) records, the open unemployment rate (OUR) in Sukabumi Regency in December 2023 decreased by 0.45% to 7.32% compared to December 2022. Over the past eight years, the open unemployment rate (OUR) has shown a downward trend, continuing the decreasing trend of the previous year.

Since 2014, the open unemployment rate (OUR) in Sukabumi Regency has shown a decreasing trend in terms of numbers. Furthermore, the four years following the Covid-19 pandemic, starting from 2020, resulted in a decrease in the open unemployment rate (OUR) in Sukabumi Regency.

Compared to other regencies/cities, the open unemployment rate (OUR) in this regency/city ranks 50th nationally. The national average open unemployment rate (OUR) in 2023 was 4.6%.

The reduction in the open unemployment rate (OUR) data this year can be seen from the conditions of the number of the workforce and the number of employed people. The number of the workforce in Sukabumi Regency has shown an upward trend over the past 16 years. Meanwhile, over the past four years, the number of the workforce has been on an upward trend. In 2021, the number of the workforce was recorded at 1.22 million workers, and in 2023, it increased to 1.45 million workers.

As for the number of employed people, the number of workers in Sukabumi Regency has increased over the past three years. Historically, in 2021, 1.11 million workers were recorded; in 2022, this increased to 1.21 million workers; and in 2023, it was recorded at 1.34 million workers.

The decrease in the open unemployment rate (OUR) data in Sukabumi Regency is not directly related to the economic growth in this region, which also continues to increase in 2022. The economy in this region in 2022 was recorded at 5.12 percent. Previously, in 2021, economic growth in this regency/city was recorded at 3.74 percent.
