According to a report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the number of working-age people in Indonesia affected by the Covid-19 pandemic decreased by 80.53% (year-on-year/yoy) in August 2022.

"The number of working-age people affected by Covid-19 in August 2022 was 4.15 million, a decrease of 17.17 million," said BPS Head Margo Yuwono in a press conference on Monday (November 7, 2022).

BPS categorized the pandemic-affected population into four groups. First, those employed but with reduced working hours. In August 2022, this group numbered 3.48 million people, down 80.03% (yoy).

Second, those not in the workforce due to Covid-19, numbering 320,000, a decrease of 54.48% (yoy). Third, those unemployed due to Covid-19, numbering 240,000, a decrease of 86.88% (yoy).

Fourth, those temporarily not working due to Covid-19, numbering 110,000. This figure is down 91.76% (yoy) from 1.39 million in August of the previous year.
