Real Wages of Domestic Helpers Decreased by 0.29% in November 2021

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported a decrease in the wages of domestic helpers. The average real wage of domestic helpers decreased to Rp 398,346 per month in November 2021. However, the average nominal wage of domestic helpers increased slightly by 0.08% to Rp 426,460 per month.

Other urban workers experienced a similar situation. The average real wage for female salon workers was Rp 27,241 per person, down 0.37% from Rp 27,343 per person the previous month. The average nominal wage for salon workers remained stagnant at Rp 29,164 per person.

Meanwhile, the average wage for construction workers was Rp 85,304 per day, down 0.33% from Rp 85,587 per day in October 2021. The average nominal wage for construction workers increased slightly by 0.04% to Rp 91,326 per day.

In rural areas, the average real wage for farm laborers decreased by 0.26% to Rp 52,738 per day in November 2021. The nominal wage was Rp 57,081 per day, up 0.13% from Rp 57,007 per day the previous month.

Nominal wages represent the average daily wage received by workers as compensation for work performed. Real wages, on the other hand, reflect the purchasing power of the income received by workers.
