2023 Data: Unemployment in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency is 3.96%

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released data showing that the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency reached 3.96% in 2023. This figure is a decrease of 0.83% compared to December 2022, which recorded 4.79%. However, compared to December 2021, the figure increased by 0.78%.

Since 2018, the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency has shown an upward trend. A similar situation occurred four years after the Covid-19 pandemic, which began in March 2020, also resulting in a rise in the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency.

Compared to other regencies/cities, the open unemployment rate in this regency/city ranks 264th nationally. The national average open unemployment rate in 2023 was 4.3%.

The decrease in the open unemployment rate (TPT) is reflected in the number of employed people and the labor force published by BPS this year. The labor force in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency has shown an upward trend over the past 15 years. After the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, the labor force has also been on an upward trend for the past four years. In 2021, the labor force was recorded at 366,840 workers, increasing to 384,930 workers in 2023.

Regarding the number of employed people, the number of workers in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency has increased over the past three years. Historically, in 2021, there were 355,190 workers; this number decreased to 337,000 in 2022 and increased to 369,690 in 2023.

The decrease in the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency is not directly related to the slump in economic growth in 2023. The economy in this region in 2023 recorded a growth of 5.05 percent. Previously, in 2022, economic growth in this regency/city was recorded at 5.44 percent.
