According to the report by Statistics Indonesia (BPS), in 2024, there were 4,557 commercial tourism attraction objects (TAO) businesses in Indonesia.

These businesses collectively employed 77,605 workers, consisting of 73,285 paid workers and 4,320 unpaid workers.

Commercial TAO businesses that absorbed the most labor were natural attractions, with a total of 27,712 people, or 35.71% of the total workforce.

Meanwhile, tourism areas absorbed the fewest workers, with only 973 people or 1.25%.

Of all workers in commercial TAO businesses, 65.37% had a high school education, 12.77% had a junior high school education, and 14.40% held a university degree.

According to BPS, a matter of concern is the low percentage of workers with a diploma education, as it only accounts for about 3.17% of the total workforce.
