The EBT Sector Opens Opportunities for 720,000 Jobs: Here's the Distribution

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) projects in PT PLN's Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) 2025-2034 that the electricity sector will absorb more than 1.7 million workers.

"This job absorption is approximately 1.7 million to bring light to Indonesia," said ESDM Minister Bahlil Lahadalia in an online press conference on Monday (26/5/2025).

He detailed that 836,696 jobs will cover the needs of the manufacturing, construction, operation, and maintenance industries for power plants.

Meanwhile, 881,132 jobs will cover the needs of the manufacturing, construction, operation, and maintenance industries for transmission, substations, and distribution.

Of the total 836,696 jobs absorbed in the power generation segment, 91% or 760,000 are green jobs or environmentally friendly jobs.

The following is a complete list of job opportunities in the new and renewable energy (EBT) sector according to PT PLN's RUPTL 2025-2034:

1. Solar Power Plants (PLTS): 348,057 jobs
2. Hydroelectric Power Plants/Microhydro (PLTA/M): 129,759 jobs
3. Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Power Plants (PLTA Pump Storage): 94,195 jobs
4. Battery Sector (Batteries): 68,193 job opportunities
5. Wind Power Plants (PLTB): 58,938 jobs
6. Geothermal Power Plants (PLTP): 42,700 jobs
7. Biomass Power Plants (PLTBm): 7,197 jobs
8. Nuclear Power Plants (PLTN): 6,850 jobs
9. Waste-to-Energy Power Plants (PLTSa): 2,429 jobs
10. Biogas Power Plants (PLTBg): 1,481 jobs
11. Ocean Current Power Plants (PLTAL): 341 jobs
