The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) recorded 21,189 public complaints regarding alleged corruption between 2020 and 2024.

"Handling cases at the KPK begins, among other things, with public complaints," said KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata in an online press conference on Tuesday (17/12/2024).

He stated that during that period, 9,603 complaints were archived, and 16,821 others were verified.

This year, the anti-graft agency received 4,182 public complaints. This is a 4.71% decrease from the previous year, which saw 4,389 complaints.

The trend shows that the number of complaints regarding alleged corruption reached its highest level in 2022 with a total of 4,427 complaints. The number has since steadily decreased to this year.

Based on region, the most complaints originated from DKI Jakarta, with 2,414 complaints throughout 2024.

This was followed by West Java with 1,775 complaints; East Java with 1,484 complaints; North Sumatra with 1,368 complaints; and Central Java with 941 complaints.
