President Prabowo Subianto announced a 6.5% increase in the national minimum wage for next year.
"We have decided to increase the average national minimum wage in 2025 by 6.5 percent," Prabowo said, as reported by *Antara* on Friday (29/11/2024).
"The sectoral minimum wage will be determined by the Provincial, City, and Regency Wage Councils," he added.
If this increase is applied uniformly, the provincial minimum wage (UMP) on Sumatra Island next year will range from Rp2.67 million to Rp3.88 million per month.
Here's an estimate of the UMP on Sumatra Island in 2025, assuming a 6.5% increase from the 2024 UMP:
* Bangka Belitung Islands: UMP increases from Rp3.64 million to Rp3.88 million
* Aceh: UMP increases from Rp3.46 million to Rp3.69 million
* South Sumatra: UMP increases from Rp3.46 million to Rp3.68 million
* Riau Islands: UMP increases from Rp3.4 million to Rp3.62 million
* Riau: UMP increases from Rp3.29 million to Rp3.51 million
* Jambi: UMP increases from Rp3.04 million to Rp3.23 million
* West Sumatra: UMP increases from Rp2.81 million to Rp2.99 million
* North Sumatra: UMP increases from Rp2.81 million to Rp2.99 million
* Lampung: UMP increases from Rp2.72 million to Rp2.89 million
* Bengkulu: UMP increases from Rp2.51 million to Rp2.67 million
