Top 10 Countries in the World for Remote Work in 2022

Remote work culture has become increasingly popular since the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, not all countries provide easy access for remote workers.

The network security company, NordLayer, conducted research on the best countries for remote work in its Global Remote Work Index 2022 report.

The research observed 66 countries, considering cybersecurity indicators, economic and social conditions, digital and physical infrastructure, and the Covid-19 response.

NordLayer then processed the data related to these indicators into a Global Remote Work Index 2022 score on a scale of 0-1. The higher the score, the better the country is considered for remote work.

The research revealed that Germany is the best country for remote work with a score of 0.824.

"Germany ranks first due to its solid performance in cybersecurity and economic and social conditions. However, it still lags behind in digital and physical infrastructure," the report states.

Here are the top 10 countries globally for remote work according to the Global Remote Work Index 2022:

1. Germany: 0.824
2. Denmark: 0.816
3. United States: 0.809
4. Spain: 0.796
5. Lithuania: 0.794
6. Netherlands: 0.791
7. Sweden: 0.788
8. Estonia: 0.784
9. Singapore: 0.782
10. France: 0.778

From this list of countries, it can be seen that European countries fill eight of the top ten positions, in addition to the United States and Singapore.
