Labor Force Participation Rate Still Dominated by Men

Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) [https://databoks.katadata.co.id/datapublish/2019/05/06/kuartal-i-2019-ekonomi-indonesia-tumbuh-507](https://databoks.katadata.co.id/datapublish/2019/05/06/kuartal-i-2019-ekonomi-indonesia-tumbuh-507), the Indonesian workforce in February 2019 increased by 2.24 million people compared to February 2018, reaching 136.18 million. In line with this increase in the workforce, the labor force participation rate (LFPR) also rose by 0.12% to 69.32% compared to the same period last year. This indicates an increase in the economic potential from the supply side of the labor force.

When viewed by gender, the LFPR is still dominated by men with a participation rate of 83.18%. Meanwhile, the female LFPR is only 55.5%. Year-on-year, the male LFPR increased by 0.17%, while the female LFPR only increased slightly by 0.06%.
