Based on the Governor's Decree of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Number 384 of 2023, the 2024 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) in the region is set at Rp2,125,897.61.
This figure represents an increase of Rp144,115.22, or 7.27%, from the 2023 UMP of Rp1,981,782.39.
DIY Regional Secretary Beny Suharsono stated that the 2024 UMP increase was decided by Governor Sultan HB X based on the recommendation of the DIY Provincial Wage Council, comprising representatives from workers, employers, the government, and experts/academics.
"This year's UMP increase is quite significant, although there have been various dynamics," said Beny in his official statement on Tuesday (21/11/2023).
He also explained that the UMP calculation uses the formula stipulated in Government Regulation Number 51 of 2023 concerning Wages.
Furthermore, the DIY Provincial Wage Council recommended the UMP amount by considering the economic growth conditions in DIY, particularly the inflation rate.
Benny mentioned that the determined 2024 DIY UMP will serve as a reference for determining the Minimum District/City Wages (UMK) throughout DIY, which will be announced by the DIY Governor on November 30, 2023.
"Meanwhile, the UMK should be higher than the UMP," he said.
