Real Wages of Domestic Helpers Decreased by 0.18% in January 2022

According to a report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the average real wage for domestic helpers (ART) decreased by 0.13% from Rp396,194/month in December 2021 to Rp395,679/month in January 2022.

However, the nominal wage for ART increased by 0.43%, from Rp426,588/month in December 2021 to Rp428,422/month in January 2022.

Similarly, construction workers experienced a decrease in real wages. In December 2021, construction workers received an average real wage of Rp84,827/day, which decreased by 0.18% to Rp84,674/day in January 2022.

On the other hand, the average nominal wage for construction workers increased by 0.38%, from Rp91,335/day in December 2021 to Rp91,682/day in January 2022.

Meanwhile, the average wage for female hairdressers increased both in real and nominal terms.

Compared to December 2021, in January 2022 the average nominal wage for female hairdressers increased by 2.17% to Rp29,815/person. The average real wage increased by 1.61% to Rp27,539/person.
