2023 Data: Unemployment in Mahakam Hulu Regency Reaches 2.09%

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released data showing that the open unemployment rate (OUR) in Mahakam Hulu Regency reached 2.09% in 2023. This figure is a decrease of 0.35% compared to December 2022, which was recorded at 2.44%. Compared to December 2021, the figure decreased by 1.05%.

The open unemployment rate (OUR) over the past five years reached its highest point in 2017 at 9.05% and its lowest point in 2023 at 2.09%.

Compared to other regencies/cities, the open unemployment rate (OUR) in this regency/city ranks 369th nationally. The national average open unemployment rate (OUR) in 2023 was 4.6%.

The reduction in the open unemployment rate (OUR) this year can be seen from the conditions of the number of the workforce and the number of employed people. The number of the workforce in Mahakam Hulu Regency has increased over the past three years. Historically, in 2021, there were 14,959 workers; in 2022, this number decreased to 14,205 workers; and in 2023, it was recorded at 19,586 workers.

Regarding the number of employed people, the number of workers in Mahakam Hulu Regency has shown an upward trend over the past seven years. After the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, for the past four years, the number of workers has also been on an upward trend. In 2021, there were 14,489 workers; this number increased by 5,319 workers to 19,177 workers in 2023.

The decrease in the open unemployment rate (OUR) in Mahakam Hulu Regency is not directly related to the slump in economic growth in 2022. The economy in this region in 2022 was recorded at 0.91 percent. Previously, in 2021, economic growth in this regency/city was recorded at 1.27 percent.
