Average Net Income of Self-Employed Workers in the Agricultural Sector is the Lowest

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in its August 2020 Income Statistics report noted that the average net income of self-employed workers was Rp 1.4 million per month. This figure is lower than the average net income of self-employed non-wage earners, which was Rp 1.7 million per month.

The lowest average net income for self-employed workers was in the agricultural sector, at Rp 1 million per month. The average net income for self-employed workers in the service sector was recorded at Rp 1.3 million per month. Meanwhile, the average net income for self-employed workers in the industrial sector reached Rp 1.8 million per month.

BPS defines self-employed workers as individuals working for others on a non-permanent basis in both the agricultural and non-agricultural sectors. Self-employed workers will not receive income if they do not work due to leave, illness, or other reasons.
