Daily Wage of Construction Workers of Rp 91,025 in May 2021

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the average nominal wage of construction workers (workers, not foremen) was Rp 91,025 per day in May 2021. This figure increased by 0.04% from April 2021, which was Rp 90,989 per day.

Meanwhile, the real wage of construction workers was Rp 85,605 per day in May 2021. This decreased by 0.28% from the previous month, which was Rp 85,805 per day in April 2021.

This situation occurred because the increase in nominal wages for construction workers was lower than the inflation rate in May 2021. According to BPS records, the inflation rate was 0.32% the previous month.

A similar phenomenon occurred with the wages of farm laborers. Specifically, the nominal wage of farm laborers increased by 0.14% to Rp 56,710 per day in May 2021.

Meanwhile, the real wage of farm laborers decreased by 0.07% to Rp 52,431 per day last month. This is because the increase in nominal wages for farm laborers was lower than the growth of the rural household consumption index (IKRT) which was 0.22%.
