The Largest Kartu Prakerja Incentive for Purchasing Groceries

A survey by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) shows that Kartu Prakerja participants used their incentives for various needs. The majority, or 86.7% of respondents, used the Kartu Prakerja incentive to purchase basic necessities or food.

63.4% of respondents used the Kartu Prakerja incentive to pay for electricity or water bills. Furthermore, 51.9% of respondents used the incentive to buy mobile phone credit or internet packages.

In line with the Kartu Prakerja program's objectives, 42.4% of respondents used the incentive for business capital. 41.9% also used the incentive for transportation costs.

Additionally, 28% of respondents used the incentive for job search expenses. Respondents using the Kartu Prakerja incentive for education and healthcare costs were 24.6% and 23.5%, respectively.

16.5% of respondents used the incentive to pay rent, while 11.5% used it to pay off debts. Meanwhile, 10.5% of respondents used the incentive for savings.

Kartu Prakerja is a government program providing social safety nets for job seekers, workers who have been laid off, and those needing skills enhancement. To date, the program has been implemented in 17 waves.

CSIS conducted a survey of 2,000 Kartu Prakerja recipients in each province from July 27 to August 2, 2021. The survey used stratified random sampling with a margin of error of approximately 2.19% and a 95% confidence level.
