Elementary School, the Highest Educational Level Completed by Generation X

Data from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that Generation X (born 1965-1980) most frequently completed their education at the primary school level (SD). This proportion reaches 38.01% of the total sample.

Second is the senior high school (SMA) or equivalent level, with an achievement of 25.78%. Third is the junior high school (SMP) or equivalent level at 17.22%.

However, among all levels, the percentage of those who did not complete primary school and those who never attended school is quite high, at 6.71% and 3.05%, respectively.

The least common level of education completed is professional education, at 0.06%.

This data is taken from the long-form 2020 Population Census (SP 2020), involving 4.29 million households. This series of surveys was conducted in two stages.

The first stage was the population census using a short form in 2020. The second stage, the long form with a more complex questionnaire, was initially scheduled for 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this activity was postponed to 2022.

The data was processed and disseminated from June 2022 to January 30, 2023.
