This is a List of the 13 Best Non-Vocational Universities; UI Drops to 5th Place

The Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) has announced the clustering of higher education institutions under its auspices. Non-vocational higher education institutions are categorized into five clusters: Cluster 1 comprises 13 universities, Cluster 2 has 70 universities, Cluster 3 has 338 universities, Cluster 4 has 955 universities, and Cluster 5 has 765 universities.

Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) achieved first place for two consecutive years with a score of 3.671 in 2019. Next in rank is Gadjah Mada University (UGM) with a score of 3.594, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) with a score of 3.577, and Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) with a score of 3.462. University of Indonesia (UI) is in fifth place with a score of 3.401, down one rank from the previous year.

The next five rankings include Diponegoro University (3.207), Airlangga University (3.056), Hasanuddin University (3.306), Brawijaya University (2.948), and Padjadjaran University (2.906). Meanwhile, Andalas University and Sebelas Maret University are in 11th and 12th positions with scores of 2.795 and 2.711 respectively. University of North Sumatra is a newcomer to Cluster 1 with a score of 2.695, ranking 13th.
