These are the Best Student Cities in Southeast Asia; Indonesia Loses to Malaysia

According to the QS Best Student Cities 2019, five Southeast Asian cities were ranked among the best for international students. Singapore ranked first as the best city for students in Asia with a score of 416. Jakarta ranked fifth with a score of 194.

Although Indonesia is included in the QS Ranking's list of best Asian cities for students, its ranking is significantly lower than Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which ranked second in Asia with a score of 388. Bangkok, Thailand, and Manila, Philippines, ranked third and fourth, respectively, with scores of 307 and 244.

The indicators used in the QS Best Student Cities 2019 were student view, university ranking, student mix, desirability, employer activity, and affordability.

In detail, Jakarta's highest score was in affordability at 77, followed by student view with a score of 28. University ranking and desirability both scored 27. Finally, the student mix indicator received a score of 21, while employer activity had the lowest score at 14.
