Only 465 people in West Kalimantan have a doctoral degree.

Based on data from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the population of West Kalimantan (Kalbar) was 5.46 million in June 2021. Of this number, only 243,950 people (4.47%) had attained tertiary education, and only 0.01% had attained a doctoral degree (S3).

Specifically, there were 465 people (0.01%) who were doctoral graduates (S3), 9,310 people (0.17%) with a master's degree (S2), and 152,840 people with a bachelor's degree (S1).

Furthermore, 58,370 residents of the province had completed a Diploma 3 (D3) education, and 22,970 people had completed a Diploma 1 or 2 (D1/D2).

Meanwhile, 1.54 million people (28.16%) of West Kalimantan's population had completed secondary education. This includes 817,550 people (14.97%) who graduated from upper secondary school (SLTA) and 720,470 people (13.19%) who graduated from lower secondary school (SLTP).

Additionally, 1.43 million people (26.36%) had completed primary school (SD), 767,560 people (14.05%) had not completed primary school, and 1.47 million people (26.96%) had never attended school.
