The number of teachers in North Sulawesi was recorded as 43,633 in 2020.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that 43,633 people were registered as teachers in North Sulawesi in 2020. The majority of teachers, 18,970, taught at the elementary school level. This represents 43.5% of all teachers across all education levels.

Furthermore, 9,379 teachers taught at the Junior High School (SMP) level, representing 21.5%. Next, 4,890 teachers taught at the Senior High School (SMA) level, representing 11.2%.

The lowest number of teachers was at the Madrasah Aliyah (MA) level, with 579 teachers, or 1.32% of the total. Similarly, the number of teachers at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah level was also low, at 885 teachers, or 2.02%.

The total number of schools in North Sulawesi in 2020, ranging from Kindergarten (TK) to Vocational High Schools (SMK), was 5,109. This is a decrease of 192 schools compared to the previous year, which had 5,301 schools.

Looking at the Net Enrollment Ratio (NER) for education in North Sulawesi, the NER for elementary school reached 95.13% in 2020. Meanwhile, the NER for junior high school and senior high school were 74.82% and 63.38%, respectively.
