Indonesia Has More PhD Graduates Than Russia

Indonesia ranks among the countries with the highest number of doctoral graduates globally, surpassing Russia. An Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) release stated that, as of 2014, the number of doctoral graduates in Indonesia reached 3,591. This figure is higher than the number of doctoral graduates in Russia, which reached 2,223.

The highest number of doctoral graduates is in the United States. The number of doctoral graduates in the US is approximately 67,449. Germany follows in second place with 28,147, and the United Kingdom with 25,020.

Most of the countries at the top of the list are developed economies. However, India is the only developing country to make it into the top five, surpassing Japan. The number of doctoral graduates in India reached 24,300.
