BWF Men's Singles Ranking: Jonatan Christie Gains Many Points from the 2023 Japan Open

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has released the latest men's singles world rankings following the Japan Open 2023 tournament, held from July 25-30, 2023, at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.

Indonesian badminton player Jonatan Christie performed admirably, finishing as the runner-up.

Affectionately known as Jojo, he defeated several top world players, including Weng Hong Yang, Kunlavut Vitidsarn, and Lakshya Sen.

However, in the final, Jonathan lost to Viktor Axelsen, who played aggressively throughout the two-game match, winning with a final score of 21-6 and 21-12.

Despite the loss, Jonatan gained significant points after the Japan Open 2023. He previously ranked 9th in the world with 68,627 points, rising to 5th place with 72,571 points.

However, Jonatan's position remains precarious, with a narrow point difference separating him from the three players below him.

Viktor Axelsen of Denmark remains in first place with 107,305 points. Another Indonesian player, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, remains in second place.
