Saudi Arabian investment in Indonesia throughout 2016 only reached US$900,000, or approximately Rp11.97 billion. This figure ranks only seventh among Middle Eastern countries investing in Indonesia. According to the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), these Saudi Arabian foreign investment projects totaled 44 units.
In 2016, Saudi Arabian investment in Indonesia ranked 57th. This is significantly lower than Singapore's investment in Indonesia, which reached US$1.97 billion, or approximately Rp122 trillion in 2016. Singapore's investment ranked first, surpassing Japan and China. Meanwhile, the largest investment from a Middle Eastern country came from the United Arab Emirates, reaching US$55 million and ranking 25th.
King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia will be visiting several Asian countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, China, and Japan. King Salman and his entourage, comprising members of the Saudi royal family and government, are scheduled to arrive in Indonesia on March 1, 2017. In addition to Jakarta, the delegation also plans to visit Bali. This will be the first visit by a Saudi Arabian monarch to Indonesia since 1970.
