Garut Regency's 2023 current price Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) reached Rp72.23 trillion. This represents a 4.94% growth compared to the previous year's Rp66.59 trillion.
Compared to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the region's economic growth is significantly higher. At the end of 2020, post-COVID, growth recorded a decline of 1.26%.
According to BPS (Statistics Indonesia) publications, with a total population of 2.77 million, the GRDP per capita in this region is recorded at Rp26,910,000 per capita per year. Nationally, this ranks 424th.
Of the 17 sectors driving the economy in this regency, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries are the leading sectors.
Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries are in first place. In 2023, this sector contributed the largest GRDP, reaching Rp26.23 trillion, with a growth of 1.6%.
Second is the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector, which grew by 4.81% to Rp13.39 trillion, followed by the manufacturing industry sector, which grew by 8.05% to Rp6.47 trillion.
Other sectors contributing to the top five include education services with a GRDP of Rp3.8 trillion.
