According to Standard Chartered Plc's long-term projections, Indonesia will become the world's 4th largest economy by 2030. This ranking is calculated based on nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP) using purchasing power parity (PPP).

As reported by Bloomberg on Wednesday (January 9, 2019), Indonesia's nominal GDP is projected to reach US$10 trillion in 2030, placing it among the world's top 10 largest economies. For context, Indonesia's GDP surpassed US$1 trillion for the first time in 2017. In 2030, Indonesia's economy is projected to be ranked below the United States (3rd) and above Turkey (5th). China is projected to remain the world's largest economy, with a GDP of US$64.2 trillion.

This projection contrasts sharply with a previous statement by presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto, who claimed that Indonesia would cease to exist by 2030. This pessimistic statement, sourced from a fictional novel titled *Ghost Fleet* by PW Singer and August Cole, sparked considerable controversy.
