The data shows that discontinuation rates were highest for short-term contraceptive methods.

"The high dropout rate of short-term contraceptive use can be minimized by using long-term contraceptive methods," wrote BKKBN in its report.

BKKBN also recorded the provinces with the highest contraceptive discontinuation rates in Indonesia.

Papua had the highest rate at 30.3%, followed by South Kalimantan (26.1%) and North Sumatra (25.5%).
